A point system will be implemented that awards
4 points for 1st place
2 points for 2nd place
1 point for 3rd place
- No points will be awarded for not placing at any of the RAS Bid Qualifiers.
- Points will be given to only those teams that are awarded at a particular competition. For example, if a competition awards only 1st and 2nd place, RAS Points will only be given to those places.
- Only one team can receive RAS Points per placing, per competition. No ties.
- In the event of a multi-round competition, only the results from the FINAL round will receive RAS Points.
A thorough record will be kept of each team: where it competes, and where it places. At the end of the raas/garba season, a cumulative point score will be taken of each team. The top 7 teams will receive an official invitation to compete at Raas All-Stars 2012.
Should there be a tie amongst teams with the same cumulative point score, the following tie breakers will take place (in order, until we have a lineup of seven teams):
Highest points per appearance
Most number of first place finishes
Most second place finishes
Most third place finishes
If the methodology above is unable to determine a lineup of seven teams, the RAS Board will use a viewer’s choice to determine the undecided positions.
Ultimately, our goal is to have the best teams compete at Raas All Stars while motivating teams to compete at the highest level throughout the season. With this system, we are looking to promote Raas/Garba by allowing all new Raas/Garba competitions to be included in the bid system while giving our audience the best entertainment and a great experience.
A few things we’d like to re-emphasize:
Only 7 teams will receive a RAS Invitation
Each competing team will be allowed a maximum performance (stage) time of 6 minutes.
Good luck to all the teams and competition organizers this upcoming year!
